1. The Union Overlook — A Classic UNCC Background

If you want that unmistakably “UNCC Charlotte” shot, The Union Overlook is a must. This spot captures both the Student Union and the iconic clock tower in one location!. It's clean, recognizable, and timeless.
Great for: cap and gown photos, champagne pop photos, and traditional graduation announcements.

2. The Front Sign — Show Off Your Niner Pride

Every Niner needs at least one photo by the UNCC front sign. This is the spot that says, “I did it.” Whether you’re holding up your cap, popping champagne, or posing with roommates.

3. UNCC Botanical Gardens — A Natural, Dreamy Setting

For seniors wanting something softer and more natural, the UNCC Botanical Gardens offer lush greenery, stone pathways, a pond, and colorful flowers depending on the season. This spot is perfect for seniors who want a romantic or earthy tone in their photos without feeling like you’re on campus!

4. Grigg Hall Steps — Iconic, Clean, and Architectural

One of the most loved senior photo locations, the Grigg Steps offer beautiful symmetry and a modern, architectural look. This spot photographs well in every season and gives a cool, elevated campus feel — perfect for seniors who want something polished and aesthetic.

5. Your Favorite Campus Spot — Make It Personal

The best photos are meaningful, so consider including a location tied to your UNCC experience:

  • Your college building

  • Your residence hall or dorm courtyard

  • The library (inside or outside Atkins)

  • A sports field or practice area

  • Your study spot or anywhere you spent time as a student
These photos add personality and help tell your UNCC story.

Final Tips for Your UNCC Senior Session

  • Wear something that feels like you, but coordinates with campus tones (greens, neutrals, white, and black always look great at UNCC and with the cap and gown).

  • Bring your cap, gown, honors cords, stoles, and any sentimental items (yes, even your dog:))

  • Consider bringing props to add to your experience and photos. Some of my favorites so far, have been champagne, books, a science flask, your pet, ballet shoes, and a stethoscope.

  • And most importantly — pick locations that reflect your own UNCC journey as a Niner.
