How to Make Your Charlotte Senior Photos Feel Unique to You

Your senior photos should feel like you, not a copy of someone else’s Pinterest board. The best sessions are the ones that highlight your personality, your interests, and the story of who you are right now. Whether you're graduating from a Charlotte high school or college, here are easy ways to make your senior photos stand out — and feel uniquely yours.

1. Bring Props That Tell Your Story

Props aren’t cheesy — they’re personality. They’re what turn a pretty photo into a meaningful memory.

Some great ideas include:

  • Sports gear: basketball, cleats, softball bat, cheer poms, dance shoes, uniforms.

  • Music: guitar, instrument, vinyls

  • Hobbies: books, sketchbooks, camera, journals

  • Graduation-related props: your tassel, cords, college t-shirt/ sweatshirt (If any props, these are the most important!)

  • Future career items: stethoscope, laptop, textbooks, uniforms, science flask

One of my favorite props ever? A UNCC graduate earning a science degree brought a lab flask and pill bottles. It was creative, personal, and made her photos unforgettable.

If it matters to you, it belongs in your photos!

2. Show Off Your Style

Your outfit choices say a lot about your personality. Choose pieces that feel flattering and authentic to your everyday style!
A good guideline:

  • One dressy look

  • One casual look

  • or/ and a school-spirited or themed outfit (think college t-shirt, future career outfits - scrubs, teacher crewneck)

And always bring a backup option (or two!).

3. Choose Locations That Mean Something

Think beyond “pretty.” If a spot matters to you, it will photograph beautifully:

  • Your high school campus

  • Your favorite coffee shop

  • Your favorite park in Charlotte or on Lake Norman

  • Sports fields

  • Charlotte nature locations

  • UNCC campus spots if you’re a Niner

Meaningful locations add depth to your photos — they help tell your story.

4. Add Personal Touches

Small details make a big impact:

  • Favorite jewelry

  • A meaningful necklace or ring

  • Your class ring

  • A letter jacket

  • Your future college sweatshirt

Even subtle touches add personality.

5. Bring a Family Member (Or Your Pet!)

Want candid photos? Bring someone who makes you laugh! I always make sure your mom, dad, or sibling (whoever is there with you!) jumps in a photo too!
And yes — pets are always welcome.

Your Senior Photos Should Feel Like YOU

When you bring meaningful items, wear outfits that match your personality, and choose locations that matter, your photos become more than portraits — they become keepsakes!
